Brainspotting is a powerful brain-body therapy that utilizes points in your visual field to facilitate processing trauma, emotional pain or limiting beliefs.
During a session, I’ll guide you to focus your gaze on a specific point while you notice body sensations, emotions, and thoughts. Using a pointer or by organically landing on a location in your visual field, we find a “brainspot.” Depending on the issue you are working on, the brainspot can provide deeper access and/or provide a sense of groundedness and support to move through something painful or scary.
As a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, I have completed comprehensive training in this modality as well as hundreds of hours of experience. I integrate Brainspotting with my background in EMDR, IFS (Internal Family Systems) and Somatic Experiencing to provide a tailored approach to your healing.
Both are effective trauma therapies and work similarly with the brain’s built-in healing mechanisms but they look and sound a bit different. Brainspotting tends to allow more nuance and creativity between therapist and client in the healing process, while EMDR is typically more structured and scripted. I use both modalities with many of my clients. In our work together, we can determine which approach—or combination—works best for you.
